Lettering for Wakeboarding Mag

Last September I was introduced to the Shawn Perry, the Editor-in-Chief of Wakeboarding Mag by my good friends Nick Sambrato. They were in the process of redesigning their magazine for 2015 and wanted all 9 of the department titles to be hand-lettered.

Even though they all had to work together, I treated them as 9 separate lettering pieces. I hand-lettered them all separately in pencil over the course of a few weeks and then vectored them all together. It was difficult because if I made a change to a letter in one of the words, I had make sure I made the same change universally.

I grew up wakeboarding/wakeskating and I still do it occasionally today, so it was awesome to do some lettering for a magazine I grew up reading. Their team killed the redesign and I love how they tied in my lettering. I definitely look forward to doing more work for them in the future, as well as more editorial work.
