Halloween Scene

This Halloween project 🎃 was inspired by one of my favourite games — Luigi’s Mansion on the 3DS console (sorry, Nintendo fans only 🍄). Haunted mansions, graveyards, and other spookilicious elements!

The idea was to create a cute, warm scene with the right portion of realism as well as a cartoon-like style. Funny detail: the lanterns above and the gravestone create a ghost-like face with the help of negative space 👻

The gravestone, lanterns, and bushes were recreated from a tiny screenshot during gameplay (yeap, nerdy 🤓). The text above I decided to add it at the last minute because it felt a bit empty in that area.

First render

These visuals were created with the beloved Cinema4D and Arnold render engine. Also, there are around 5 light sources🕯 and about 20 different textures. Quite heavy.

To spice the scene up, I've added more elements: Jack o'Lenterns, a graveyard fence, candles, and some plants.

For more cinematic look 🎥 I've added depth of field, played with a glow effect, and some colour filters.

After refining & doing final retouches, I decided to play with the scene a bit more to find another, more dynamic view angle of the scene.

Thus, I did some extra shots 📸

I did enjoy the design process, thus made a video with a scene progress and spiced it up with some sound effects! Hope you like it 🎃

P.S. turn the music on 🔊
