The curves just didn't feel right to me. As United Serif has such geometric edges, I thought it fit better. And increased the font-size a bit. I did this super quick, and I would go back and do a little kerning to finish it up, but here you go!
I agree with the geometric uniformity you were going for here (in fact, this is the original shape I made). However, I was hoping to make it more "interesting" visually by throwing in some slight contrast (aka, the curved points on the top and bottom). I felt it had good vertical flow because of the symmetry and contrast between United's geometric form and the "badge's points"
Still undecided though. There is a version of this sitting in my Illustrator file because I like it too much to get rid of it!
