App Design for an Online Plants Store

This design was made by Midjourney AI. But taking into consideration how long it took me personally to make it usable and realistic, I should say that it was created by me. Or was it co-created by us both? Who is the creator when we use AI in creative work? Where do we draw the distinctive line?

With this design, I'm exploring the nuanced question of who is the "creator" when AI is used in the creative process. Is it the AI itself, the human who finished the design, or is it a collaboration between the two? Or perhaps it's all the people who created the UI designs that AI learned from and later used in order to create this one? In that sense, this UI design would be created by X number of incognito designers.

Ultimately, the question of "creatorship" is one to be solved by the creative industry as AI is here to stay as our ever-present co-designer.

I was surprised by the quality of the visual direction Midjourney took. Illustrations like these are achieved in minutes. The color palette and visual language were matching the intention of the brand. Naturally, Midjourney is not a vector-based tool and the result was not pixel-perfect, nor even aligned logically. The icons and texts were missing too. But with a little help from a human, I should say it created an amazing design.
