Smarthome Speaker Voice Assistant

This CUI was designed as part of the 14 days daily conversation design challenge organized by Ryan, Hillary, & the UXWC team.

Day 14: Set a Reminder

The goal of this challenge is to confirm the user's input (a to-do list) and ask if they'd like to be reminded of it.

Thought process:

Initially, I thought about adding time to each task (e.g., "reply emails at 3:00pm"), but I realized that would be more suitable for a calendar app than a to-do list app. Here, the voice assistant repeats the user's input to show that the tasks have been added. The voice assistant then asks the user if they would like to receive a reminder or not, which expects a yes/no answer. After the user replies "yes," the voice assistant asks a follow-up question regarding how often (rather than what time -- not a calendar app!) they'd like to be reminded to do the tasks.

A decision I made was to not limit what the user can say. For example, after confirming the to-do list, the voice assistant could've said, "Would you like to receive a reminder every X hours, Y hours, or Other?" I decided to leave this as an open-ended question because there are too many possible answers.
