Museum Conversation User Interface (CUI)

This CUI was designed as part of the 14 days daily conversation design challenge organized by Ryan, Hillary, & the UXWC team.

Day 1: Welcome Message

The goal of this challenge is to write a welcome message that greets the user when they open the museum website's chatbot.

Thought process:

It’s important to keep the welcome message short and sweet. Because “Museum ChatBot” is spelled out clearly at the top of the chatbox, it would be redundant to introduce the bot again in the message (e.g., My name is X and I'm the museum's chatbot).

In the welcome message, I used the collective “we” to represent the museum as a whole, which implies a sense of community. The words in the buttons are kept to the minimum, just enough to make correct inferences. I tried not to incorporate more than four buttons as it will be overwhelming to the user.

Once the user clicked "I'm looking for something else," the bot responds with an acknowledgement + a prompt.
