Teaching myself to use parallax by creating a few fun animations (I'll eventually throw them up on a playground site I'll eventually create. (Big ambitions, never enough time). Using Ryan Clark's amazing Liberator font here, and much inspired by this brilliant shot http://dribbble.com/shots/173550-Prototype-mailer. Text not yet resolved.
Nice work, the question is, are you going to use multiple backgrounds or multiple divs? I'd say progressively enhance and have the parallax effect for the latest browsers. @simplebits book has a great explanation for this :D
@Joshua - that's a really nice subtle effect. Mine is going to be the in-your-face-action-packed-stupid-crazy-impracttical variety (at least that's what I'm aiming for).
@stu - you just broke my brain, but that's a good thing. I'll look at simplebits as you suggested. Right now it's multiple divs - though css3 multiple bgs is something that really, really excites me.
I'll post links this and the other one I'm working on when they're done - rather than waiting to build the home for them first. Ever since I saw this amazing thing: http://bit.ly/4LfO8m I started dreaming about potential ways to subvert the two-dimensions of web design. I'm not a strong enough developer to do what I dream of, but aim aiming to get there.
