Podengo Rescue

This is a recent design I donated to the organization, Bring Portuguese Podengos to Light. Similar to other sighthound breeds, this gorgeous and sensitive breed is exploited for their prey drive instinct and strength. Hunters and "Matilheiros" or Packmen, breed and use them for hunting. Most hunting dogs are kept in cages or short-chained to a wall. Only occasionally given food & water and barely kept alive. At a young age they go through a hunting trial, most do not make the cut and are shot or abandoned. This is such a senseless and heartbreaking practice.I reached out to the rescue the other day, based in Michigan and Lisbon, Portugal, and offered my design services to help them raise much needed funds. They were EXTREMELY excited and appreciative. In my research, I took inspiration from the Portuguese Coat of Arms for the shape of the shield. Additionally I incorporated the colors of their flag, in a more modern and stylized color palette, and paid homage to their original logo graphic that incorporated the Belem Tower. Instead, I created a simplified icon to use as bookend elements on either side of the banner. It was my goal to create a bold logo that would stand out from the other rescues and be an eye catching design people would want to purchase on fundraising material on various apparel.I know it may seem trivial to some, but anyway I can find to help those that are going above and beyond to help animals that are mistreated... I will find a way to do so.
