Q is for Quik, next in the 90sNibbles series! Nestlé Quik was my jam when I was a kid! I would eat the powder straight up by the spoonful. Let’s hope I didn’t double-dip, but I probably did, to be honest. My favorite way to eat it was mixing so much of it with milk that I made the darkest chocolate milk that ever existed. I would also use it to make dark hot chocolate in the winter, and I topped it with Marshmallow Fluff. Fun Fact: In my household, we weren’t allowed to say “fart,” so we’d substitute it with the word “fluff.” We got quite a laugh every time we brought out the Fluff Can.

Anyway, Nestlé Quik, now called Nesquik, began as a chocolate powdered flavoring mix in the United States before 1950. It was launched in Europe as Nesquik in the ’50s. It was initially marketed as “Nestlé’s Quik” for the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and Australia, and it was changed to the worldwide brand Nesquik in 1999. Nestlé introduced syrup products in 1981 and ready-to-drink products in 1984.

Nesquik Chocolate Flavor powder was the first flavor produced. For some unfathomable reason, Nestle thought the next logical flavor to introduce was banana. Next in line was strawberry. Several flavors were introduced and later discontinued, including vanilla, cherry, mango, cream, honey, caramel, and cookies and cream.
