Nope, it's pretty much real-time for simple primitives like this. I can run my mouse along the screen and rotate the entire object around 3D space at 24 frames a second.
Now, if I had hundreds of these wheels on screen at once, that's a different matter.

The 3D takes me back to those days that I was playing around with KPT Bryce, but I bet you don't have to wait that long anymore until it's rendered ;)
