Level tease. Bits look great animated. The smaller blocks orbit the larger nucleus like a pixelated atom. Shiny.

The floating (?) treasure chest hides more bits or, if you're lucky, an aforedribbbled upgrade.

Oh and there's a 1up hiding in the corner, Megaman-style.

Dan, same here. If there are no file size limitations, it's possible for Shaun to post an in-play animated gif, right?

Curse you, Shaun, for making me covet this so. I wants it. I needs it. Precious...

Haha, thanks for the nomination Paulo.

The game is still a long way from done. It needs enemies, bosses, goals (plus 4-, 8- and 16-bit artwork for same). I still need to figure out exactly how bits and resolution fit together in the context of gameplay. That has me stumped at the moment—which explains why I've resorted to seeking solace in pixels.

I built a 2d game framework in C/Objective-C. I looked into Cocos2d iPhone but it just had too much cruft, too many layers of abstraction.

Started work on a new enemy sprite today, tentatively named Baker. He's a fireball-lobbing two-tailed cat based loosely on the Bakeneko from Japanese folklore.

Also dropped a 16-bit grimp in there since I'm really happy with the way he turned out but haven't dribbbled him yet.
