Hey, thanks! I hadn't touched these in a while, but have been seeing similar logos all over the web, so wanted to post mine. I think I'd try adding some kind of circular element attached to the left of the "D" to make a monocle here... if only to see how it looks... and make the period rounder for sure. Also want to try as more of a logotype.
Oh yeah that could work for the monocle - I would also definitely love to see this without the hat, more of a logotype like you said. I do like the hat, but since it's quite a big, solid shape it almost overpowers the type. In any case, looking forward to seeing what you do with this!

Two quick mocks for a logo that never went anywhere. Client chose to go with an updated existing logo instead. Oh well.

Bah, that's such a shame - these both look like such a good start. Love the face being made out of the letters! Typeface works well too.
