Great work, Love it!
Hot out of the gate!
haha cheers keith :)
Not Penny's boat.
@Ritchie it reminded me of the classic Lost (when Lost were good enough to watch) scene within the same door/window http://images.wikia.com/lostpedia/images/5/52/Notpennysboat.jpg I'm kinda sentimental when design reminds me of something from movies, etc. Sorry for interrupting yr work ;-)
@Milosz ohh haha..good old Lost..I "Lost" interest after the 2nd season i think. No problem at all!, your not interrupting
this looks awesome, I love the hinge.
First? And good one too!
Yea first one, looks like it was fairly well received :) appreciate it Marko
Looks great. Nice job with the surface detail of the water.
Great details! Can't imagine seeing your second attempt.
Quick tip: make sure you save the actual production version of the icon as a full square, i.e. no transparency around the borders. C.F. Neven Mrgan's post on the problem here: http://mrgan.tumblr.com/post/4213859594/broken-ios-icons
almost 2 years ago
Thanks Jared!i i saved the final as a rounded shape like this. So you mean let the shape "bleed" out? instead of cutting it into a rounded square?
"First attempt"... I almost bought that one.
@Milos Haha! no but seriously..it was my first attempt
Luke, Totally! I know it sounds weird, but the images for the app bundle and the App Store should all be square. Add whatever treatment you'd give to the rounded corners where they'd be if you weren't saving it as a square, but don't leave any transparency. The rounded corners are done at the code level, but not always exactly the same.
I'll use my app as an example. Here's the actual retina display icon: http://cl.ly/8JEJ
And here's how it looks on my home screen: http://cl.ly/8JoM
@Jared,Thanks a lot for the info and example. Only concern is that it Doesn't seem to very accurate.Isn't there an accurate way to make the shape yourself?..that way you could have more control over the corner area - in terms of shadows and what not.
