Linen is the new noise, don't you know.

I kind of love linen, even though it wrinkles very quickly.

Maybe the notifications could be VERY wrinkled if you didn't check them over time... then you have to iron them out with a multi-touch gesture—a whole new category of interaction design—"Fabric-ations"

I wish there was a way to switch it out on iOS...

Linen feels organic and earthy. It is the fabric of leisure and it is also slightly counter-culture (because it wrinkles so). You won't see a guy on Wall Street wearing a linen suit. This is what Apple is trying to convey.

Funny, I didn't hear so many people hating linen until Apple used it. The occasional, "Feeling a bit overused," but never so much straight vitriole.

But I guess it's popular to hate it now. So, *grabs a pitchfork*.

One thing I do dislike more than linen, however, is un-centered text that is supposed to be centered. ;)

@Jared The linen - especially in everything Apple. I like a bit of linen but to have a whole page linen (new ios5 notifications) seems a bit overpowering

@Cap ... SNAP! HAHA... nailed me. Uh, the un-centered text was, uh... part of the protest! :) Pitchforks welcome.

@Sarah ... you may be right. A very esoteric theory.
