My new business cards. I couldn't choose a colour to run with, so just went with them all.

Really lovely, what does the key represent?

Love the color palette. I've always wanted to do something similar but the printing costs get out of hand. Or did you print these yourself?

    Thank for the comments people.

The reason I choose the key is in reference to an analogy I often use to describe design and my practice that follows:

The key has to be made in such way as to perform its function: to open/close a corresponding lock. If the key does not fit the appropriate lock, then it is pretty much useless.

It may be over contextualised maybe even slightly convoluted, but I find that it just about gets my point across. I was worried that the key/lock analogy (semantically speaking) usually represents security, but when the key is on its own I think that the meaning changes.

I also like keys, not just as aesthetic objects, but also as an amazing piece of technology that has changed so very little in such a long time.

Getting them printed was rather expensive. Printing them myself would definitely have been a cheaper option, but also might have taken a lot of time.

    Sorry for the essay.

That a great bit of rationalisation, thanks for taking the time to explain.

Graphically these cards are stunning. But your impassioned and throughtful response above makes them even more special :)
