It does look good but as @Anthony has eluded to this, is basically the Instagram logo.
The app really isn't going to stand out if they go with this.

I like it with the rainbow. Maybe you can use a darker colour scheme for the camera body to differentiate from Instagram's previous icon?

The client wanted a polaroid camera like this, so there's nothing I can do about that.
And for the Instagram similarity: I did never during the process of making it look at the Instagram icon, not once! So sorry for the similarity :S
