That niggling feeling is just inexperience, (please take that in a friendly way :) The ability to reduce things down and give a rational reason for your choices (beyond 'it's missing something') is a really important thing to develop. I think maybe if you added some custom tweaks to the font you might get more of a unique character rather than needing to add the line.
Sure, thanks for the advice. Really helpful mate :) I think the lack of any colour was one of the main reasons for the line. It looked very bland otherwise and that didn't really fit with the style of music Fred was creating.

Design brief was to make it as minimal as possible :)

I think you can definitely get away with dropping the line for a truly minimal design. What was your rationale for adding this detail?

I did have it like that originally but it just seemed to lack something. It's just a little splash of colour which sort of brings it to life.
