Working on a super-fantastic project for a larger company that all of us designers respect very well. Maybe I can show more of the interface work soon. Thought these little icons turned out okay for round one. I'm dribbblin' maw, look at me!
Haha thanks Thomas! I thought the right one was interesting, since it breaks free of the normal, always like to experiment with something different from all the rest. May not fit in the environment, but maybe that means it stands out. Especially when people have 3 pages worth of apps. Huge appreciation for the love!
While I respect Tim, I don't think it's something that would be considered a guideline. Plus, if we only based our decisions from one persons idea's, we'd be a pretty closed off world now wouldn't we?
But we can use these restrictions for our imagination. As you did very well on the left side.
You use the design guidelines of Mac OS X _and_ you have to use the design guidelines for iPhone OS.
And it just looks ugly, when a desktop-style icon is surrounded by nice iphone-style icons.
Just worked on a better version over the weekend. After the quick review, took the direction everyone seemed to like just a step above. Whaddya thinks?

The right one is ugly as hell and doesn’t fit in the iPhone design environment.
