customizable table / metrics

At Semiflat we’ve recently been busy planning our first design-hackathon - SemiJam. While coming up with the challenges for the team (more information on that coming soon) I wanted to explore the solution to one of them. Here’s the result. The idea was to design a highly customizable table that would be used by traders in a fintech product.

Approach 1 shows how users could add new columns of relevant metrics to their table (possibly searching through hundreds of them to find the one they want). They could also drag each column horizontally to reposition it based on priority.

Approach 2 shows another idea for adding and rearranging metrics in a table - this time in a modal - where users can browse through metrics divided by category to find the ones they want. Chosen metrics can easily be rearranged by dragging and dropping vertically.
