I was very inspired by Sven Szota shot, and I decided to expand on his idea and retina size it. I am quite happy with the result, and I really enjoyed making it. As far as the rest of the elements go, it incorporates some elements from Robin Raszka redesign as well.
Been taking a closer look at this shot today (it's been quite useful) so I've decided to critique it:
http://d.pr/oTyf Although most of that is criticising elements, I do really like this and think you did an excellent job — it just lacks polish.
Nice work. :)
@Tom Graham: I really like your critique, and your work as well so I respect your opinions. Also, as you may know it is good to get some fresh eyes looking at it because stuff you or someone else may notice... I don't. Overall all this was just practice, but I did in-fact want to practice technique. Thanks for your comment ;)
Thank you, Jonathan! Appreciate it. :)
I know exactly what you mean. In fact, annotating that image was my attempt at giving myself fresh eyes for my current open canvas.
I guessed it was practice — seems Instagram redesigns are a bit of a rite of passage, in a way… maybe I should give it a go some day. :P I figured a little outside opinion might thus be useful. Glad it was helpful, and I think the updated attachment does indeed look better. :)

This is great! Honestly, anything is better than what they have now. Love Instagram but don't care for the UI design.
