There are two things I'm looking at here, three if you count the color which is still up in the air... The first is whether or not the icons make sense for my app. I don't expect them to make complete sense here, because it's so out of context and they relate directly to pages of the app. The second is the subtleness of the divider bar. The four icons on the left act as project navigation whereas the three+ on the right are global options. It make sense to me, but I wonder how much of a mental hurdle it will be for my users.
It looks nice David, though I'm uncertain about the split in the middle.
Perhaps you would be better explicitly dividing the areas of navigation by using different colours? If the bar doesn't need to be that width then maybe just adding greater space in the middle would be enough.
Ian: I agree. I had tried moving things over, but it looked like I was just missing one of the icons unless I kick it way over. But I'm thinking that I might take your suggestion and add the hi-light color in between as a buffer. Thanks for the idea.
As far as the icons themselves, I made them in FireWorks. It's pretty much my go-to app for anything icon or vector.
The glyphs are aliased. You should work with the shapes on the pixel grid in photoshop. It will make them look much more crisp. Also, check the weight-balance on the "reel" (I think) icon. Perhaps give more even spacing between the dots and the rest of the wheel. The head and the neck aren't in the center of the shoulders, giving the silhouette a slouched look.
Hope my critiques are helpful and don't come off dickish.
David, think Klein has a point with the lines actually. Although Fireworks locks to the pixel grid by default I think you can get some issues with strokes and 1px soft settings.
Klein & Ian: No, I totally agree, and I'm glad you said something, Klein. I've been working on it over the last few minutes and half the battle is won by switching from the anti-aliased to hard setting. Some aren't though, so it's a bit of manual work there, but still, I think after the adjustments they'll look a lot better.

Very nice and subtle. Like the colors and subtle drop shadows. Nice work.

Nice icons though, what did you make them in?
