UI for a large database search & filtering page. The pop-up appears as you hover over any of your current filters, allowing the filter to be removed or modified.
Looks great. Popups on the search filters are an interesting idea. How did the filter get applied in the first place? Does it also exist in a sidebar? Or did it get selected on the previous page?
Rich, actually the search box you see in the upper portion of the shot is where you originally set the filters. You wouldn't see the filter breadcrumb and the search box on the same page in the working version, I just captured them both in the screen grab.
One note: we have seen that text boxes are doing better than sliders and pre-populated lists in our A/B tests. But our target group is "very" mainstream, that includes people do not use computer at all. (search and refine is the main feature of our sites)
One question: does the region option have to repeat twice? Or they work differently? If not maybe you can save some space :)
We're aware that the slider is a less conventional means of selecting a number range, but I think it will fair okay with our demographic.
This shot is more a collage of interface elements than it is an actual layout. Currently I think the plan is that each filter that is selected in the top search box will be removed from the list and added to the chain of filters below so you wont see 2 filters of the same criteria on the page at one time.
