Grief and Time

This is a calendar that is made up of individual strips for each day. Each strip has a matchstick inside that can be lit transforming the strip into a candle.

It speaks also to the ritual of lighting a candle in memory of someone. In fact, several countries cremate their dead as a ritual. Each strip also has a space to fill in the days based on the grief you are feeling (e.g., days past since something sad happened) in addition to the universal date.

The idea behind burning it is that grief isn’t controlled by the normal units of days, weeks, and months and when grieving it all blends together as time passes by - there will always be some feeling of loss no matter how much time passes.
