Circular Economy Sunflowers

This came out of a more detailed illustration of a profile sunflower. I decided to try to simplify it, inspired by the Scandinavian style geometric flowers, and then I stumbled on this arrangement, which feels like a more fun version of the traditional recycling symbol. To me it fits with the circular economy, or the sustainable economy, where the end-of-life of a product is considered thoughtfully, especially how most if not all of the product can become the raw matter out of which the new products are made. This, of course, is something we learn by observing the surprising, beautiful, and efficient ways this happens with plants, animals, fungi, and bacteria. #compost
