Long Shadow Lens Flare

Trends come and go... Remember when one of the stock PS lens flare seemed to be the "go to" effect? In 10 or 20 years are we going to sitting there with our 8K displays in the midst of a skeuomorphic design revival and look back and laugh at all the long shadows like we do now with those lens flares (in general)? I'm certainly not "anti-long shadow" and I suppose I'm not anti-lens flare either, but each has their place and like the lens flare way back when, long shadows are quite a trend. What's next and what will become of the long shadow? Trends come and go.
