The first of (hopefully) many 'Expert Series' apps by Howcast is now live on iTunes! http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/guitar-lessons-from-howcast/id436051510?mt=8
I hope you'll get a sec to download, test, rate, and provide feedback (although preferably provide feedback here as opposed to iTunes). It's a $1.99 which I'd be curious to hear your thoughts on as well.
If you download this you'll notice some swiping/snapping issues as well as the inability to swipe the video screen off. Believe me when I say that those are my top priority (and have been well before we launched). As many of you know, this is the dance we play between what's good enough to ship vs. what's perfect. Add that to our 5 month search to find the perfect iOS developer and you end up having to make a few compromises on v 1.0 ; )
But overall I'm really happy with it and look forward to hearing your thoughts!

Looks great man. I could actually use an app like this.
Just downloaded it. Very intuitive UI. I did notice the swiping issues you mentioned.
I couldnt figure out what the left/right buttons under the video were for.
Also, in context, the on state (green) for the completed (check) button felt too dim. I had a hard time telling if it was active or not.
But overall it looks great and most importantly is going to be very useful.
PS if your iOS dev is available I'd like to talk to him/her. :)
@Jackson Stephens, thank you so much for actually downloading and playing with the app! I can't tell you how much I appreciate it. All of your points are great ones. To answer your question about the left/fright buttons, those are only supposed to be there when there are steps in the video. I've filed a ticket for this and it should be getting addressed this week. It was one of those things that got pushed back in order to just get it out.
Curious which green "on" state you're referring to. Do you mean the button above the video?
Cool no prob. Glad to help.
Yeah I was referrimg to those beautiful circular buttons to the top right of the video.
Roger that. I'll have a look into it!
Just saw the app in 'new and noteworthy', congratulations!
@David Keegan thanks!
