I'm a little confused by the sketches. I mean... why? They don't look preliminary at all, almost as if you did them as alternate versions. Were they done before or after? (Asked earlier. I may have missed the answer.)
Are they pencil and paper sketches or more digital stuff?

Hey Steve!
I just love what I do, like most of us I'm sure. Sometimes working on a client project I can easily get so involved that I just do it for myself, both for pleasure and to improve my skills. I don't think its a bad approach in general.
BTW, I'm quite oldschool and most of my sketches first appear on paper. The sketch you see on the left has been of course polished afterwards, you got me :)
