I like the colours, but it looks a bit… wishy-washy… if that makes sense.
You've got these brilliantly vibrant colours (the pink of the basketball, the yellow of the pencil, the red of the pin) and yet you've faded them out (using opacity)? Is there a reason for this (e.g. onHover, opacity=100%)?
If not, try playing around with drawing the icons with more neutral, pastel colours rather than changing the opacity which cheapens the look of what you can tell are actually very nice icons.
Ahh ok, fair does then.
I still think it'd be better if you did something other than CSS opacity reduction — for example having monochrome sketched/outlined versions of the icons instead of the reduced opacity ones, if such a sketch-style is your thing… to relate it to your design process and how it works.
Just an idea. What you've done sounds good though, and like I say, the icons are nice — too nice to be weakened by something like that. :)

That's it, they will be 100% on hover, with some click events to show a cute map and a nice twitter feed
