I started working on the successor to my most popular theme back in January, but haven't had a chance to get back to it until today. Made some great progress and actually managed to finish the homepage design.

This image is showing part of the featured content area, which also houses the latest video game reviews.

Are you releasing it as a new theme or update? Just did a project for ThemeForest to launch their Magento category.

Is that a scrollbar? I hope you will use WebKit’s CSS to style it before resorting to JavaScript! Just kidding, it’ll be awesome anyway. :)

Looks far too dark on my monitor. There needs to be more contrast between the background and the elements.

@Brendan: It will be an entirely new theme, built from the ground up. The style and concept is based on the original theme, but that's about it.

@Peter: If WebKit based browsers made up the majority, I would definitely go that route. But a jQuery scroller will be used instead.

@Martin: Maybe. But you're only looking at a portion of the image, and it's surrounded by light colours. There are alternate styles where the UI elements are more prominent as well.

The scrollbar looks pretty delicious. Nice work!

Spent a little while focusing on details and have added some textures and lighting to make this featured area pop more.
