Social Network Patches

Working on figuring out how these patches that are so popular are made. For a first result they aren't bad but I didn't save the PSD and when I shrunk them they lost a lot of the subtle details. Still, not bad for a first try though.

Need some help figuring out how to have a pattern flow with the black stitching though, can't seem to get it to work right and not look all funny.
