Dancing Meese

Yesterday was my lest session of my 6-month Mentorship through The Illustration Dept. When I started last year, I was burnt out from creating, running my business, and well…COVID times. I was so focused on what I thought I needed to do, I forgot about what I love about drawing and illustration. I’ve had my head down honing my craft and writing new stories. So I’m back and I’ll be posting new work.

Sometimes the assignment isn’t about the what. Sometimes it’s about the process. After my first sketch, I was encouraged to explore images of the Pacific Northwest and swing dancing to breathe a little more life into my piece. This sparked something in me to explore possibilities. I remembered that I love to draw and create new things.
