My only thought is to tone down the highlights and shadows to make them appear less shiny and more life-like. Especially on the red side where the highlights are actually pure white in some spots.
@Mitch and Eric, it's basically just a displacement map (Filter - Distort - Displace) loaded from an external PSD, that is applied to a simple circular pattern I created. And the displacement map is essentially just a levels-adjusted version of the background shading. I'm really happy with how it worked out, and it's definitely a feature I'll be using again.
I noticed a few issues, foremost of which is that the "BULLS" font wasn't as close to the jersey font as I'd like it, and the second being I wasn't real happy with how the stitching came out. Here's a new version, including the future MVP D-Rose :P
