White-headed woodpecker

Despite its strong presence in the United States, the population of the white-headed woodpecker has become very small in Canada. Its remaining habitat is limited to only a small part of the south of British Columbia. Among other things, its tiny population comes from the deforestation that has taken place in previous years, the increasingly prevalent forest fires, and the formation of young frail forests which limits their growth.
