Plugged the same solution to Daniel Cork a couple of days ago:
Both designs work and its really down to personal preference (and even daily mood) or which one a person prefers.
My suggestion was to use the light design during the day, and the dark design at night using a couple of stylesheets and some funky code.
For what its worth, I really like your dark version. But tomorrow I might like your light ;)
I heard that dark backgrounds use less energy than light - not sure how true that is, but that could be a consideration.
