    Ok. Here's another version. It's much better I think. Not sold on the highlight thingy in the beard though. I like the horns better in this one. They're more squarey which is cool. And I squared out the beard more. The previous one could be a football with horns—I wasn't crazy about the shape. Plus it looks like a rocket upside down. Anyway, thoughts and critiques are encouraged.

    I like this new version much better. The graphic style of the first one is nice, but I think the texture is helping a lot here.

    I agree about the highlight in the beard--it doesn't seem necessary. If it were hinting at another facial feature existing beneath the hair (ex: mouth, chin etc) then I think you could use it there. The cross-hatching pattern already defines the scragglyness of the beard, the extra flourish seems like overkill.
