Illustrating liquid is far harder than I'd thought. Turns out most tutorials have you grab a stock image of water or paint being splashed. But what if you need it to be vector so that it's perfectly crisp at any size? Thus the journey to create a liquid splash... not perfect, but it's good enough for now :-)
Are the large and small sizes supposed to have different splashes? :P Super awesome job, anyways! I do feel there could be a few more gradients and shading in the splashes. :)
@Chris, yes, the splashes in the large one were too detailed for the smaller version, so I needed to simplify. I agree that there could be a few more gradients/shading. It's a tricky balance between realistic and simplicity :-)
