Recently I decided to redesign Amazon's movie streaming service for purely experimental purposes. I wanted to go for something minimal yet visually striking. Check out the full screens attached and let me know what you think!

Lovely Design. I will vote for Version 2.
My suggestion is selected Icon [Watchlist] text color should be darker. Currently white text color merge with entire background.
I think since long tome Amazon would need a serious restyle...
I like the number 2 too.
I like your style, compliment.
looks super clean!
I like v1. The yellow sidebar is different and makes it stand out IMO. But I would change the light blue parts up top to yellow as well.
Lovely design, only those grid/column view icons on the right seem excessively heavy to me
Visually interesting !
Very nicely done @James Cipriano
I would say number 2 only because the yellow sidebar in v1 visually competes with the item listings too much and causes a distraction. I like the simplicity of the sidebar in #2 with the active state of yellow for a clear visual cue. I do like the yellow color, but the more I look at it, the more it stands out :)
If you do want to differentiate the sidebar a little bit from the main content, you could always go with a very light shade of yellow or a light gray, as a suggestion :)
Cool. I like Version 2 too.
Second one is better. The whole thing is very derivative of the Netflix site, but that's probably good. Not sure if the chunky slab type feels right for Amazon though.
@Raghavendra Shet @Manuele Carlini @Sanadas young @Kenil Bhavsar @Ron Evgeniy @Hamza ERBAY @John Andronowski @Peter Gajdos @Salomon Aurélien @Alex Wright @Andy Baltes @Jered Odegard Thanks for the constructive feedback everyone. I think I agree with everyone that number 2 is better since it is more simple and less distracting.
Looks really great. I prefer #1 myself. You need to add the movie rating though (R, PG13, etc) - I feel like that's pretty important info.
This looks really nice, great experiment!
This is something they've needed for so long. The experience on desktop for streaming is atrocious. It's interestingly pretty decent on Samsung Smart TVs though.
I prefer the second version... The content should be the focal point and the UI should stay relatively subdued in my opinion.
Nice! I think the search bar would look more natural if aligned with the edge of the sidebar.
@Matt Corrado @Avinash Tripathi @Henry Smith @Noah Batterson @Kyle Decker Thanks for the feedback guys!
Beautiful design. Definitely vote for version number 2 as well. The yellow sidebar in version 1 is very bold and pulls away from the rest of the user interface.
@Greg Wilkinson @Roberto Osorio Thanks guys!
I would go for ver 2 as well, works really good. Very simple and usefull interface. The only thing I would think through is this hover state with pop up window. Someone browsing through the content will get bunch of pop ups windows each time he moves cursor or it's a matter of proper timing :) Anyway it's a proper redesign, well done!
Always good James.
