Ozzy

ABOUT THE ILLUSTRATION:

Baby shower invite with a jungle theme and had to say something along the lines of "Welcoming Ozzy to the Adventure of Life"... I volunteer to do the design... the mom is one of my best friends, so I am glad I get to draw something for sweet baby Ozzy, while exercising my illustration-muscle-abilities.
I thought of: "How the jungle would gather in peace when Ozzy is born..."

ABOUT THE MAKING:

- 1. I knew I wanted typography and illustration, I sketch my overall visual idea in procreate, (I already was given the theme by the people organizing the bb shower so I didn't have to think about that, which it was nice.)
- 2. I traced on top of my sketch, creating a cleaner and more simple drawing ready to vector.
- 3. I traced the sketch in vector form, in Ai.
- 4. I started playing with color in Ai, exploring.
(this step not in visuals).
- 5. The illustration felt sterile, and I wanted it to feel more special... so I transferred a jpeg of the Ai to Pro-create to color on top and had more of a fluid experience and just get out of my head, and let lose, enjoy the experience... Just like a coloring a book. (I played at least with 5 color palettes)
- 6. UGH! Secondary type was a little bit of a challenge, I am not gonna lie, I ain't a letterer, BUT I tried my best to without trying to hard to write the info... I ended up tracing an actual type only for "To the adventure of life" part. The rest is my handwriting, I felt like it was ok to embrace my 8 year old writing skills, the child like feel... makes it feel vulnerable.
- 7. Created all of this to share here in Dribbble, and then... battled with a PSD error message: "Could not complete this operation an unknown error has occurred" googled helped to find the answer. I had to open my file with PSD 2019 instead of 2020.
- 8. Did all of this in about 60 hours. I really explored, that's where my time really went.
