Decided to change it up a bit because I found it looked too much like Rogie's HUD theme. I might try to make this one a reality.
What do you think?

I liked the other one a bit more, maybe add variations?
Not sure if that works well, as the reason for the dark background is to distinguish the alert from the background content. So it might look weird in some cases - but other than that, I like the style of it (especially the close button!). :)
I like this one better Jeff, nice work!
I too like this one better.
A lot better!
This is more unique, but that shadow is a bit strong methinks. Also, have you tried out different icons in place of your avatar to see if it still looks good? Not sure what those will look like :)
much better :) I like it!
Do it, dammit!
Awesome, except can you design custom close buttons with custom placements?
I think text-shadow: 0px -1px rgba(0,0,0,0.5); in text would look better :P
Love it, looking forward to using it!
Love this Jeff, please make it a reality ;)
P.S What an awesome background. Can you share?
@Wills: The wood texture is by Matthew: http://drbl.in/lPz
way better, loving it man. Now get back to work and release it =P
Hey Jeff, I'm a bit confused with this. I use growl and can't really see where an avatar would fit in in most cases.
I also like the first one more :)
want, want, want, WAAAAAANT!
Thanks Jeff :)
@Ryan: It could also be a CD cover or the app symbol, not just an avatar.
@Jeff: Some usability thoughts here; since only Mac users use Growl, putting the X to the right breaks the idea of where to click to close things. On a Mac you close things in the upper left corner.
Have you tried placing the avatar on the right and the X on the left? If not, please do, I'd love to see how that works out. :)
Other than that, it's gorgeous! I was a bit disappointed when I found out that this doesn't exist as a Growl theme (yet). I'd download it in an instant!

Go create your version and rebound!
Jeff, I love your work man :) You are super close to us. I work just a couple blocks from you on 2nd.
Has this been created for Growl yet?
I'd love to use it in Growl!
