This was the last design pass before we moved to code and started tweaking.

I will be using Medium a lot more now that I figured out custom collections.
This I like!
This looks awesome!
You guys nailed typography.
All the different elements work so well together, nicely done !
If I may ask, which font is used for the titles at the bottom ?
I’d love to hear more about the type choices – in particular the move away from Freight Sans.
This looks great. Curious how it will work without such a nice, dark and well positioned background image.
Stunning. However considering the cover image can be basically anything I have the same hesitations as @Jeremy Paul Beasley
@Jeremy Paul Beasley @Natan Nikolic Good question and concern :) So, one we allow users to add washes and do a gradient over the photo, but more importantly, we actually do a blur of the background on scroll to make sure text is readable.
Check it out on a few:
Worst cover I've found yet (while the header is fairly unreadable, it mends itself on scroll). We will only get better at making almost any photo usable though!
@Thibault Michel It was Freight Display, although we ended up only using Freight Text for body and Bernino for our sans.
It's very nice and I already see it in action. Very cool. I love the blur effect on a scroll down.
Great work Dave. Loving the Freight type family, we actually use it a lot too in Lifetramp.
@Dave Gamache I have to say, it's really gorgeous
Love all your work on Medium! It's a big inspiration as I try to improve my typography skills.
really love this new direction.
