This is a website's navigation i'm working on right now.
I'm not completely sure about the hover state on the submenu item, and maybe i'll play a bit more with paddings, but other than that i think it's good.
The idea is to use Cuffon for the fonts and jQuery to animate the whole menu.
I'd put a darker color in the 'parroquia' word to make it less confusing, because in the first view, you don't know from where is that submenu. Follow this principle.
First, i made the "Parroquia" menu stay shaded when its submenu is open, trying to make it look as if the background is a bit pushed or bent down. Also added a bit higher shadow to the text to help this effect.
The submenu item doesn't have background shading, only the indentation which will animate with jQuery.
Both links are now #FFFFFF so they stand out a bit more from the rest, and there's a bit less noise altogether, but especially on the submenu background.
