This is my vision of the google result page.

I would really like to search through Web, images and maps (or video) at the same time.

I am not saying it's better of the current google, and i know we don't know about the whole context, but it just to give some ideas :) (so relax)

✔ A setting allow you to define what type of results you prefer in your search (custom). So you can search through different types at the same time. Maybe some users always look for patents, so they could add it in this page, instead of maps.

✔ Results could try to go further : For instance, here i am looking for lion (panthera leo), and the map give me the nearby zoo.

✔ The sidebar give the user control over the results by defining types of files or by filtering results.

I took some inspiration from Erixon for the sidebar (thank you).

This is going to be a really "harsh" feedback, but here it goes. :) I will try to make you understand why your vision isn't superior to current Google offer.

Your design is certainly aesthetically appealing. The colour scheme is interesting, and everything seems pleasant to the eye.

Now, and this is why redesigning popular products and brands with already a very solid philosophy in their core is the hardest thing to do as a designer. Google, has a vision, and has a purpose. This purpose is combined by multiple ideals and a ton of variables that only their team and the company itself has access to, such as statistical data, real testing environments, among a lot of useful information that they use in order to produce their products in a very efficient way.

Without access to that information and knowledge, redesigning such a product as Google search engine itself, is impossible and something that shouldn't even be attempted to, as the result scenario is based only on suppositions instead of actual facts.

Since I don't have access to that knowledge, I could only provide real feedback with those suppositions in mind.

In any case, it doesn't bring any solution to that problem, the execution is flawed, however, you tried, and that should be praised.

@Eduardo Santos I was waiting for these comments and i am going to explain you.

I know you can't redesign youtube, google, twitter, etc, because you don't have any information about the whole context. They have strong ergonomists, usability tests, designers, analytics to make the interface become better and better.

But it just like concept cars. You can still come up with ideas, even if it not going to be a real cars, you can take inspiration for real one.

Here i just wanted to have a custom search type. I only suggest some ideas, and i am not saying it's better or whatever. ;)

    Peace

I have similar issues as the above. My biggest gripe however, is the lack of advertising on display – which is Google's biggest revenue stream (I think). Ignoring something because it makes your work look better is not what good designers do. For me it's why the Wallpaer redesign was a huge success. It factored and integrated advertising into the design.

Ending on a plus – it looks lovely. Very clean and very well ordered.

  15. This is my vision of the Youtube video page.

First of all, i know that i don’t have any ideas about the whole context , Youtube has strong ergonomists, usability tests, designers, analytics to make the interface become better and better. I am not saying it is better, and i didn’t include all aspects. It's just like concept cars. You can still come up with ideas, even if it is not going to be a real car, you can take inspiration for real one.

    So Here we go :

✔ A darker interface, to reproduce the cinema experience. The interface could be white, and fade in black when the video starts (cinema experience).

✔ If the author has other videos (like a playlist), you can go to the previous video by clicking the video on the left (on the background). Same interaction for the next video.

✔ The play button follow the slider, it’s cleaner. But then, i noticed that it wouldn’t be a good interaction for small video, where the slider go fast.

✔ Volume, settings, subtitles etc appear when you move the mouse

✔ The description of the video should be like the first comment. Like Dribbble :)

✔ I try to keep the header consistant with my last shot (google redesign, external consistency ? )

✔ I didn’t include a lot of important features, because it wasn’t my point for this shot. Like recommended videos, which is one of the core aspect of Youtube to keep users on the site, and for ads. I wanted to present some ideas, without pretending to design the new youtube.

I took some inspiration from Erixon for the sidebar (thank you).
