I've been asked to create a very simple Wordpress blog along with a website design for a client recently. The brief stated that it was to be kept minimal, with a 'limited' palette.

I've been inspired by Jonno recently. Thought I would go for a very subtle gradient-type feel, using greys & a touch of teal blue.

Really nice. I wonder though, could you get rid of the timestamp on the comment without losing any indication of chronology? So long as your comment are either presented in age order, or threaded, you'll have the same knowledge about ordering as it you had the timestamp, and then you'd benefit from cleaning up the name line by limiting it to just that single element.

I've never paid attention to timestamps on comments, I wonder if that's indicative of how most people read them?

Timestamps are usually used to permalinking to the comment itself. I think its a bad idea to get rid of them.

As for the design itself, I'd kill the gradient on the comment background and make the pointer to the name a little more narrow. Also, indenting the commentor's name so that it lines up with their comment text, may help strengthen the association between the two elements.
