This last spring, I was asked to sketch a few rough ideas and eventually create a logo for a popcorn company down in the new Railyard area in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Here's what I came up with.

Dig. Well done.
@Adam Nielsen Thanks dude!
Nice type and I like those little action lines beside the popcorn. Kind of communicates the "pop" in popcorn. What if the popcorn was outlined in black instead of filled black? I know it's a rough though...
Thanks @Russell Pritchard, I might be slightly old-fashion-minded but I think it might come across as looking a little to corny or cheesy. ;) Or just tell that to the "project manager".
Mmmmm cheesy popcorn. Yumm. But I digress. I think the way it's executed does look super corny (nice pun btw), but your popcorn has thick and thins, line variation, and a little more character than that one. The other one could be a cloud for all I know. If you were to do it, it wouldn't be monostroke like hers, but rather just like how you have it-with varying thick and thins and more realistic. I think the cornyness all depends on how it is executed. The other popcorn looks super cutesy, so yeah, I'd agree with your comment in regards to that one.
i love the way you sketched out a whole bunch then magically figured which pieces to use to create the "perfect" finish. it's all magic to me, but soon to learn. will keep watching. warmly, genevieve
