Ok so here is a bit of a personal project I have been working on. Since the first time I saw those shorts Disney put out I saw soemthing in the art that spoke to me. It's like I saw where I wanted to take my art. I saw the natural progression of where I want to take my style. For me doing digital design has been amazing but somewhere in the mix I stopped drawing as often, stopped painting and was purely digital. So when I saw the shorts I saw the way I could bridge that gap in my work and start pushing my style.
I look forward to taking what I learned through this into my work from here on out.
To pay homage to that moment of revelation I thought it would only be appropriate to add in the guy that started it all.
Animated by my co worker Nick Snyder.

I consider myself really lucky to witness this art evolve in such an amazing way. Fantastic work my friend!
I love it. I kinda wish Mickey fit with the water-colored style.
Very cool. I love the animation style. It definitely reminds me of the old school animation from the early Mickey Mouse cartoons.
@Andrew Colin Beck haha I thought someone may say that.
Really nice! I love the story of inspiration behind the art. Don't ya just love those Ah Ha! moments.
Man, this will make any Disney fan feel like a child again.
@Adam Grason Adam, THIS IS AMAZING BRO!!! Such a great feel, you've really found something with this style!!! Keep it going bro! And great animation, so smooth and organic! Two thumbs WAY up mano! :D
Love the piece. And I love the search. Inspiring.
You could literally toss this into the new shorts right now and it would fit it seamlessly. Great progression and amazing piece!
The animated flame adds an awesome touch too. Its the little things. Well done.
your inspiration inspires me onward as well! Love those Mickey shorts! I would love to see an entire short with your style. Look out mouse!
really nice. love the animation. love, love your trees and background. wish i wasn't looking at mickey, but.... great!!
This is Great-! I love that organic feeling-
love it so much!
Style is rad...is that all digital, or are you scanning in paintings as well?
@Jason Vanlue It's a mix of the two. But it's more of water color textures versus paintings but this was basically me exploring it and now I plan on doing some of the paintings and scanning them in on top of the digital aspect.
This is great. How did I miss it? I love the style of the new Mickey shorts too.
And now that it's a month later, have you been doing more of this style?
