The morning pint

I made this illustration for the exhibition „Illustres Darmstadt“. It is a satiric comment on one of the important hihglights of the city of Darmstadt, the Mathildenhöhe. The Mathildenhöhe was a artist colony which was founded at the end of 19th century by Ernest Louis, Grand Duke of Hesse, a patron of the art nouveau.
The illustration is done in the style of a historic document and shows Ernest Louis, Grand Duke of Hesse and his brother-in-law Tsar Nicholas II of Russia having their morning pint in front of the russian chapel on the Mathildenhöhe. Their dialog never took place.
So the whole thing is a fake.
