I'm looking to create an icon that means "Good Thinking" or "Great Ideas". It would sit alongside a heart icon and give contrast to "love". It's for Pattern Tap.
I'm thinking #3 fo sho. But maybe a bit more work on that bulb...it's real close. I'd like to see some light rays coming off of it...strengthens the spark of an "idea" in it.
Careful with the lightning bolt...THEY'RE MUTHA FLIPPIN' EVERYWHERE.
I'm liking 1, however the details could disappear in some color cases. The only other icon that I would choose, logically is number 3! Keep up the good work.
Nicely done, Matthew. The first says "I just dragged something to the trash in OS X." The second reminds me of Cargo Collective. The third definitely says "idea" but not sure it suggests "good idea".
I think there's a fourth cloud icon in there somewhere, one that indicates a positive idea of some sort. Not a smiley or thumbs up, but something along those lines. Wish I could suggest what metaphor that would be, but nothing is coming to mind at the moment.
1 and 2 don't make much sense for “good thinking.” 3 is best, I think, but it seems really static, not very exciting. Perhaps the lightbulb should be outside the brain/cloud and appear lit? Maybe just a lightbulb all on its own?
I love that you're looking for a "heart" or "thumbs up" alternative. I'd say 3 is my fave so far. 1 is a little too abstract or could resemble a crumpled paper (meaning a tossed idea). 2 reminds me of a warning message when my device battery is low or in danger of dying on me. :) That's like the opposite of a good idea.
Just refreshed and saw the dozen comments. The brain doesn’t really say “brain” to me. Looks like a cloud. Definitely lumpier than the brains I remember from HS Biology. A profile of a brain is unmistakably brain-ish. Maybe something like this?

Please Rebound, or say 1, 2, or 3. Left to right.

I love them. However, just for the sake of argument — why does Cloud="great"?

2 & 3, with a slight preference for 3. 1 is awesome, but a bit too abstract

2 works best in that size

This look great...
My initial thought was 3 but the bulb is a bit difficult to see (bottom) so I say 2

If you're going for a brain, maybe make it a bit more domed shape- round on top flatter on bottom?

While I do love them, they kinda look like clouds rather than brains

I agree with Kyle that the shape of it needs to be a bit flatter on the bottom to look like a brain. I prefer 2 just because it works at that size.

#3 was my gut reaction. #1 may be a little too much detail for that small of a size.

@Brian, I'm aiming at an abstract brain.

Maybe the 3rd one. I think the shape looks more like a cloud.

Also, why not just a light bulb?
