Made some revisions to Winter's icon based on recommendations by fellow players as well as others. There's now a subtle ice texture overlaid on the bubble, the reflective artifacts of the snowflake have been toned down, and the drop shadow that wasn't supposed to be in my previous shot is gone.
Which of these two iterations do you prefer? Personally I'm still leaning toward my first shot. The texture in this one seems to ruin most of it for me. But that could be just me.
I prefer this approach, but I think the whole icon would be improved by making the bubble more 'bubbly' and rounded, rather then cut out of a board. Something along these lines http://dribbble.com/shots/119623-Quickie-Hype-Machine.
This is really great. I disagree with Zach's comment above though. It would make sense on a Mac, but on Windows I think the more straight cut style works well, because Microsoft uses that style themselves. Just my thoughts.

Ah, I didn't consider context. Yes, it might be more appropriate on Windows, but then shouldn't it be glassy and transparent :P jk
It does look great as is, though.

Zach, it turns out that it is in fact glassy and (semi-)transparent! :)
Thanks for your comments.
