Logo for a new social events directory website (my final year / digital media project). Going for simplicity here if that wasn't already clear. Mostly concerning myself with the podium design.

It feels very disjointed. Not sure 'Speakr' fits with the podium. Maybe try something that involves the text more with the podium or try something without the podium

Involves? As part of the lettering? Can't see where it could work. Any suggestions for logical alternatives for the podium? I briefly had a megaphone, but whilst that goes with the word- it doesn't match the intent.

I would suggest trying using the podium for the letter 'r' at the end. If done well it could work if not maybe try using a different font on speakr. Adding more detail to that could make it look a lot better without the need for a podium or anything else.

Not sure there is much wrong with it, just i personally I think it looks too plain when it could and probably should be more engaging, vibrant and appealing.

    Agreed on the latter points.

What if the podium wasn't grey. I'm thinking brown / yellowy orange (conforming well to my research :D)

Now I think the podium is probably too prominent, additionally, I'm tired and my contacts are drying out so the gradients are a bit rubbish, particularly around the base. Thoughts?
