National Tell a Fairy Tale Day celebrates art, history, education, family, community, tradition and culture by encouraging the reading, telling and listening of fairy tales. The act of storytelling not only promotes creativity and imagination with tales of fantastical beings, mystical forces and epic adventures but also teach important, life-long morals.

Fairy Tales have been part of different cultures for many centuries. Most importantly, they have been considered to help cognitive and emotional development of children. These form of stories introduce and discuss complex issues in an imaginative and engaging language that resonate with individuals. With that in mind, fairy tales can be used to address a variety of social platforms and issues at a crucial stage of youth. National Tell a Fairy Tale day is a way to preserve the arts and community, starting with the basic unit of society–family.
